High risk close call for Airbus A320 arriving at London Gatwick.

The UK's BBC is reporting that a pilot was forced to take an unplanned turn to avoid colliding with a drone while it was on approach to London Gatwick on 28th April.

The Airbus A320 aircraft was flying at 1,700ft with up to 186 passengers at the time of the incident and the pilot was level with the drone and to keep a safe distance, they turned to the right by up to eight degrees.  

The UK Airprox Board (UKAB) indicated the dark-coloured drone was being flown above the maximum permitted height, it was also within controlled airspace, but of which are against the drone safe code and local laws.
