Delta SkyMiles once again named a Best Travel Rewards Program by US News

The ranking attributed Delta SkyMiles' recognition to its variety of member benefits, large network of destinations and ease of redeeming miles.

For the third year in a row, Delta SkyMiles loyalty program achieved the No. 2 rank among airline award programs by U.S. News & World Report for its Best Travel Rewards Program for 2019-20.2019-usnews-skymiles-logo.JPG

"Understanding and delivering on our SkyMiles members' wants and needs is key – and that's our focus as we continue to elevate SkyMiles to be a loyalty program that consistently exceeds member expectations," said Sandeep Dube, Delta's Senior Vice President – Customer Engagement and Loyalty, and CEO – Delta Vacations. "Over the past several years, Delta has strengthened the SkyMiles Program to make it even more rewarding for customers."

The annual ranking attributed Delta SkyMiles' recognition to its "variety of member benefits, large network of flight destinations and ease of redeeming miles for round-trip award travel." Each year, the rankings identify 24 hotel and airline loyalty programs with the most rewarding benefits for everyday travellers.

As part of the continued focus on exceeding member needs, Delta recently launched Reclaim My Status, a program that allows SkyMiles Medallion Members to reclaim their Status after a major life event impacts their travel. This includes situations like becoming a new parent, changing jobs, going back to school, experiencing a medical issue, needing to take care of a friend or family member or another life event.

"This is just another example of Delta putting customers first," Dube continued. "Loyalty goes both ways and as a leading consumer brand, we are proud to create value and provide the best experience for our customers."

Here are some additional ways Delta has made SkyMiles more accessible and rewarding:

Miles don't expire.
No blackout dates for Award Tickets on any Delta Air Lines flight.
Industry-leading Medallion Benefits like: Complimentary Upgrades to Delta One on domestic flights, Rollover Medallion Qualification Miles (MQMs) and Choice Benefits for Diamond and Platinum Medallion Members.
Ability to earn miles on everyday activities with brands that customers love like American Express, Ticketmaster, Lyft and Airbnb.
Innovative ways to use miles like post-purchase seat upgrades.

These efforts are resonating with customers. In fact, the number of new SkyMiles Members signing up this year are on track to increase at a rate double that of just three years ago, and satisfaction is at record levels. Earlier this year, Delta and American Express extended its industry-leading partnership through 2029, and continues to welcome record numbers of new Card Members.

"Choosing among the countless travel rewards options available can seem like a challenge, but the financial benefits outweigh this potential drawback," said Christine Smith, travel editor at U.S. News. "The top-ranked rewards programs offer all travellers the opportunity to earn valuable rewards by simply signing up for a program and taking a trip. Whether travellers care most about cashing in accruals for a free night or flight or receiving complimentary perks like Wi-Fi access or a checked bag, they can use these rankings to find the program that best suits their needs."
