American Airlines wins multiple travel awards

American Airline's onboard wines recognized in eight categories in Global Traveler’s annual Wines on the Wing Airline Wine Survey
American also takes top honour as Favorite International Airline and Favorite Website by millennials at Trazee Travel awards

Let the celebration begin! This month American Airlines was proud to be recognized with 12 industry awards and acknowledged for two additional awards as part of the oneworld® alliance. The awards are part of annual travel recognition programs from Global Traveler, the leading magazine for luxury business and leisure travellers, and Trazee Travel, a web-based sister publication to Global Traveler geared toward millennials.

“The broad scope of these awards reflects our commitment to investing in travel experiences for all customers,” said Janelle Anderson, American’s Vice President of Global Marketing. “We know our customers have different preferences when they travel. From enjoying the best wines and watching live TV, we want everyone’s time with American to be well spent.”

Global Traveler recognized American’s wine offerings in premium cabins through their Wines on the Wing Airline Wine Survey. Winners were selected by an expert panel of judges including industry leaders, oenologists and members of the media. American received 10 awards, including three first place selections and two double-wins in a category:

Top International First-Class Wines on the Wing
Top Champagnes International First Class — Bollinger La Grande Année 2008
Top Five White Wines International First Class — Joseph Drouhin Chassagne-Montrachet 2015
Top Five Red Wines International First Class — RoseRock Zéphirine Pinot Noir 2015, Drouhin Oregon, Eola-Amity Hills, Oregon; Masi Riserva Costasera Amarone Classico 2012
Best North American First Class/Business Class Wines on the Wing
Best North American Champagne/Sparkling Wine — Lanson Black Label Brut

Best North American White Wine — Joseph Drouhin Saint-Véran 2017, Mâcon, Burgundy; J. Hofstätter Pinot Bianco 2017, Alto Adige, Italy
Best Alliance Wines on the Wing — oneworld
Additionally, the Trazee Awards were selected by Trazee Travel readers. The awards reflect the trends and preferences of millennial travelers, defined as those within the age range 18 to 35, who also tend to prioritize travel over buying a house or paying off debt. American took home a top honor — Favorite International Airline — in this year’s survey. In total, the company received awards for:

Favorite International Airline
Favorite Airline Website
Favorite Airline Alliance — oneworld
“In addition to landing the top spot for all airlines, American’s website honor is important for this group of digital natives. In a world of ever increasing digital mobility, American received rave reviews for an important aspect of the travel process, especially for this group, claiming top spot for Favorite Airline Website,” said Francis X. Gallagher, publisher and CEO, Trazee Travel. “American’s airline alliance, oneworld, also keeps this age demographic happy, earning Favorite Airline Alliance status for the second consecutive year.”
