Sheraton Eatontown Hotel Grand Re-Opening Marks New Era for Monmouth County Hospitality

The grand re-opening of the Sheraton Eatontown Hotel was officially celebrated on Wednesday, May 15, with a ribbon cutting and gala commemorating the transformative top-to-bottom hotel renovations that are now complete. The 208-room hotel has been owned and operated by an affiliate of Hotels Unlimited, Inc., since 2017.

The ceremonial ribbon cutting was performed by Carey Tajfel, Co-President of Hotels Unlimited, Courtney Mattsson, General Manager of the Sheraton Eatontown Hotel, and Eatontown Mayor Anthony Talerico, Jr.

The event marked the culmination of a long-anticipated renewal of this iconic Monmouth County hotel, and a boon for local tourism and industry. In his opening remarks, Mr. Tajfel thanked his team and the community for making the renovation possible. “We proudly employee 115 associates at this hotel. I have personally witnessed great staff comradery and team work as we have gone through this process together and I thank each and every one of you for that.” He added, “We look forward to being part of this wonderful township and community in operating what has become our flagship hotel for many years to come.”

The Sheraton Eatontown is the first Marriott® hotel to join the Hotels Unlimited portfolio. “We are very proud of our affiliation with Marriott which is amongst the top hotel companies in the world,” Mr. Tajfel noted. “I am also delighted that we are the only full-service Marriott hotel in Monmouth County.”

If you last visited Sheraton Eatontown prior to the renovations, you likely will not recognize the hotel. The renovations encompass a total refresh of all hotel guest rooms, banquet and meeting rooms, and common areas. The hotel now boasts 208 new guest rooms and luxury suites with a modern design aesthetic and cutting-edge amenities like Netflix® capabilities and plenty of plugs and ports. The Urbane Restaurant & Lounge, Club Lounge, meeting rooms, fitness center, swim-through indoor/outdoor pool, and more have been updated and revitalized. The hotel is also proud to feature the new Grand and Regal Ballrooms to accommodate up to 350 wedding or special event guests, winner of The Knot Best of Weddings 2019.

Since Hotels Unlimited acquired the property two years ago, the Sheraton Eatontown’s customer service scores have skyrocketed, and the hotel is now consistently ranked within the top 10 Sheratons in the Americas region - and recently ascended to the number 4 ranking out of 224 hotels - based on Marriott customer surveys.

Ms. Mattsson explains the hotel’s success as follows: “Ownership did a phenomenal job renovating the entire hotel, but what makes this hotel go from a beautiful property to an extraordinary experience are the kind, inviting, sincere people that work here. The welcoming team at the front desk, the housekeeping team who makes sure each room looks like you’re the first guest to stay with us, the maintenance team who keeps everything in tip top shape, the food and beverage department who provide you with a great cocktail and a delicious meal and the sales team who makes sure all your needs are met. These amazing people are what make this hotel truly stand in a league all on its own.”

Mayor Talerico noted in his remarks, “Several years ago the governing body sought about trying to stimulate growth in this area, stimulate growth along the commercial corridor, and we’re thankful that someone has stepped up, and has redeveloped the Sheraton making it very attractive.” He added, “This is quite an impressive venture that we have here. We have a beautiful hotel right in our corporate park, and we want to send a message that Eatontown is open for business.” Mayor Talerico also noted that the Borough of Eatontown’s 350th anniversary celebration will be held at the Sheraton Eatontown next year.
