Air France and Allianz Travel team up to launch proactive insurance in case of flight delays

Air France and Allianz Travel are launching proactive travel insurance for flight delays. All customers who have purchased a ticket on www.airfrance.fr and taken out Allianz Travel insurance, now automatically receive €50 per person when their flight departure is delayed by more than 2 hours. Customers do not have to file claims or provide receipts to receive compensation.

Improving the customer experience and satisfaction

Proactive insurance has been designed to make life easier for customers when waiting for their flight’s departure. By receiving an immediate payment, the customer’s wait at the airport is made more enjoyable, as they can purchase a snack or a gift, for example.
As a result, customers experiencing flight departure delays of more than 2 hours will be able to receive this proactive claim payment quickly and easily.

Proactive insurance in a few steps

Following a reported delay of more than two hours, the customer receives an SMS and an email with a link redirecting him or her to a secure website
The customer indicates their booking reference and bank details
They receive a payment of €50 per customer on their bank account within a maximum of 5 days
A new unique and innovative claim payment process

This new type of claim payment process is totally innovative; this is the first time that proactive insurance is offered for delayed flights in France in partnership with an airline. It is valid for all flights operated by Air France, whatever the destination, on both outbound and inbound flights. This payment can be combined with the financial compensation offered by the airline under European Regulations.

“We are very happy to strengthen our joint offer with Allianz Travel with this new service. With proactive insurance, we offer the customer an even simpler trip with minimum stress, notably in the event of travel delays. Customer satisfaction remains at the heart of our commercial strategy”, stated Patrick Alexandre, EVP Air France-KLM, Commercial, Sales and Alliances

“This insurance constitutes a real asset for the end customer as we are meeting their expectations proactively. This innovation is the result of a genuine co-creation between Air France teams and our own. Initial feedback from beneficiary customers has been excellent”, said Noël Ghanimé, CEO of Allianz Partners France.
