Two Chinese students win once-in-a-lifetime London experience

Sile Li and Keke Zhang will travel to the capital to embark on an exciting, fully-funded summer school course at two of London’s most renowned universities.

 Study London, the Mayor of London’s official university guide, has announced the winners of its first-ever Summer School competition to encourage more Chinese students to experience a world-class education in the UK capital. 


The London Summer Schools campaign aims to promote short-term summer courses to Chinese students, giving two lucky winners a fully-funded educational adventure to London.  

Sile Li, 21, from Guangdong province is currently studying at Guangzhou Medical University and has won a free place on the Revolutions in Biomedicine Summer Programme at Imperial College London (1 – 26 July 2019). “I have always dreamed of studying at Imperial College and I was so shocked to be chosen” explains Li. “London is a charming city and I love its prosperity and liveliness. I feel like all the universities that I am longing for are in London, which makes it even more appealing to me.” 


Keke Zhang, 22, from Zhengzhou in Henan province is studying at Beijing Forestry University and will enjoy a fully-funded place on the English Plus City Photography course at University of the Arts London (UAL) (15 - 26 July 2019). Zhang said: “London is the ‘sacred site’ to English majors like me around the globe with its rich culture and heritage. I have no doubt that the higher education in London is the best – just look at all of the top universities there are across the city!”

‘Afternoon Tea’ experience for the winner and one guest at The Landmark London hotel 
China remains London’s largest student market, growing by 89.6% since 2011/12 with a current total of 21,350 undertaking studies in the capital. Since 2016/17, student numbers from China have increased by 20% - making it one of the fastest growing student markets into London*.
