Malaysia Airlines wins gold and bronze at Malaysian Digital Association d Awards 2019

Malaysia Airlines Wins Gold and Bronze at Malaysian Digital Association d Awards 2019

Malaysia Airlines was accorded Gold for Best Performance Campaign and Bronze for Best Use of Data at the recent Malaysian Digital Association (MDA) d-Awards 2019 for one of its digital campaigns called ‘Malaysia Airlines Global Grand Travel Deals made better with MAGIc’.

Held at Bangsar Shopping Centre, the ‘d Awards’ is an annual event organised by the MDA to recognise and honour talents and brands that embrace digital innovations in designing and executing memorable marketing campaigns for the masses.

The airline’s particular submission was mooted following an expected sales dip post MATTA Fair in March 2018. Realising this, Malaysia Airlines Chief Revenue Officer Ignatius Ong said, “The campaign was initiated to drive sales by using existing data and market performance. Together with our media agency m/SIX, we implemented this campaign which resulted in an amazing sales spike.”

Malaysia Airlines most recently won Best Airline in Asia Award by the International Council of Pacific Area Travel Writers Association (PATWA) for excellence in promoting tourism.

At the beginning of April, the airline commenced its new daily service from its home base of Kuala Lumpur to Kochi. The first flight, MH108 departed Kuala Lumpur on 31 March at 10:40 pm and arrived at Cochin International Airport at 12.01am the following day.  Upon arrival in Kochi, the aircraft was given a traditional water salute and passengers were greeted with flowers and cake by Malaysia Airlines’ Regional Head of Operations for United Kingdom, Middle East and South Asia, Mr Khirrol Mohamad as well as Cochin International Airport, Airport Director & Executive Director (Operations) Mr Chandrakumaran Nair Aand and General Manager Mr Dinesh Kumar Dy.

The return flight MH 109 departed Kochi on time at 1:00 am on 1 April and arrived KLIA at 7:50am the same day.
