Carlyle Aviation Partners names Edward O’Byrne as new MD


Carlyle Aviation Partners has named Edward “Ted” O’Byrne as the firms new Managing Director and Co-Head of Aviation, where he will play a senior role in the firm’s aircraft leasing and financing activities. 

Carlyle Aviation Partners is a multi-strategy aviation investment company that has total assets under management of $5.6 billion, with over 80 employees and offices in the US, Ireland and Singapore. At the end of last year, the firm closed out on the purchase of  Apollo Aviation which has 246 aircraft owned, managed or committed to purchase with 107 airlines lessees in 57 countries.


O’Byrne joins Carlyle Aviation after 11 years with AerCap Holdings N.V. (“AerCap”), the world’s largest aircraft leasing company, where he most recently served as Chief Investment Officer in charge of portfolio management, aircraft trading and OEM relations. During his tenure, he participated in some of the largest transactions in the industry, including the acquisition of ILFC from AIG in 2014. Prior to joining AerCap, Mr O’Byrne held several commercial functions at Airbus.
