Drunk baggage loader falls asleep in the hold of a 737

The Police in Chicago say a baggage handler told them he was drunk at work when he fell asleep in the cargo hold of a Boeing 737 of American Airlines and then flew from Kansas City to Chicago.

According to American Airlines, the Piedmont Airlines staff member was supposed to be loading American Flight AA363 on Saturday when he fell asleep and the aircraft took off for Chicago from Kansas City International Airport. Luckily the drunken snoozer was in a heated and pressurised cargo hold and escaped without injury except for perhaps a headache.

The baggage handler was found when the flight landed at Chicago’s O’Hare airport after the hour-long flight.  The police say that no charges have been brought against the man, whose name has not been released and he was sent back to Kansas City.

American Airlines is said to be investigating the incident.
