Binter firms up order for Embraer E195-E2s

Brazilian aircraft manufacturer Embraer has confirmed that Binter Canarias, of Spain, will receive its first E195-E2 jet in the second half of 2019, becoming the first European customer of the E-Jets E2's largest model.

The airline has confirmed a  Letter of Intent (LoI) it signed with Embraer at Farnborough Air Show back in July 2018 and will take three of the type, with purchase rights for an additional two aircraft. Binter will use the new craft as both fleet expansion and replacement, " At Binter we have always believed in offering our customers quality service and, for us, fleet modernisation is paramount," said Binter's Vice President, Rodolfo Núñez, who recalled that the airline will celebrate its 30 years in 2019, with a very modern fleet. "We are convinced that the E195-E2 is the ideal aircraft model for our operations," he said.

The carrier will configure the aircraft in a single class cabin featuring 132 seats and the acquisition of the jets is only possible thanks to a banking consortium made up of Santander, Caixabank, BBVA, Bankia and Banco Sabadell to finance the new appliances.

The aircraft that make up the Binter fleet is the fuel-efficient ATR 72-500 and ATR 72-600 turboprops, the airline has strengthened its fleet by leasing three Bombardier CRJ1000s from Air Nostrum.
