Stanstead to Salzburg service launched by Jet2

Last week budget carrier Jet2 launched a new service from London Stanstead airport to the heart of Europe's premier ski region, Salzburg.  The airline will operate up to three flights a week to the charming city of Salzburg, which offers so much opportunity for skiers and snowboarders as 130 ski resorts, including Alpbach, Ellmau, Kitzbühel, Obertauern, Söll and Schladming are located within a three-hour drive of the city.

Jet2 services go on Thursdays, Saturdays and Sundays which could be handy if you want a winter weekend away either on the slopes or staying in Salzburg itself.  This wonderful gateway city offers some wonderful traditional Christmas Markets held in the squares close to the cathedral as well as an 'Advent Magic' market at Hellbrunn Palace, or there is another at Mirabell Square, close to Mirabell Gardens that will delight the senses. As the birthplace of Mozart, there is almost always live classical music taking place somewhere in the city, indeed from now up until January there are at least four daily concerts happening around the city.

To celebrate the inaugural jet2 flight, customers were welcomed at Salzburg Airport with cake, and traditional ‘Mozartkugel’ (Mozart Ball) a delicious round treat made of pistachio, marzipan and nougat, which is then covered with dark chocolate.

Steve Heapy, CEO of Jet2.com and Jet2holidays said: “We are thrilled to be launching our new London Stansted to Salzburg route. We know that skiers want choice and flexibility, so that’s exactly what we have provided, with up to three flights every week, including flights on Thursdays and weekends. On top of that, customers can take advantage of our friendly low fares and 22kg of baggage and ski allowance, whilst enjoying our award winning service as they head to the snow.”

Martin Jones, London Stansted’s Commercial Director, said: “The launch of Jet2.com’s new service to Salzburg from London Stansted is fantastic news for skiers and snowboarders from across the region looking to hit the slopes early this season as well as providing even more choice for passengers wanting a fantastic winter city break with the added convenience of flying from their local airport.”
