Beijing Capital Airlines conducts its first overseas recruitment drive in Portugal and Spain

Beijing Capital Airlines have just held the first overseas crew recruitment fairs in Portugal and Spain for the carrier.  Held from  November 2 to November 6 it was a massive success, having received more than 1000 resumes, the company plans to hire 40 flight attendants in the two countries.

Local candidates showed a great interest in the brand image and the distinctly Chinese culture of Beijing Capital Airlines, the airline said in a statement marking the true globalisation of the company's crew recruitment process.

"We chose Lisbon as the first stop as we had just launched a non-stop service between China and Portugal," a recruitment spokesperson for Beijing Capital Airlines explained.

Billed as the new "Silk Road in the sky" the Beijing to Lisbon route commenced on 25th July this year and fills the gap in terms of the growing need for a direct flight between the two countries and is an important step in Beijing Capital Airlines' development strategy as well as helping  to implement the Chinese government's silk road in the sky initiative.

"As the only direct flight service between China and Portugal, the Beijing-Lisbon route provides a comprehensive service package for passengers. Given that many passengers from Portugal and neighbouring countries can be expected to travel on the Beijing-Lisbon route and who may have different expectations from the airline's domestic travellers, we will be diversifying our cabin crew team through the recruitment program, in a move to better serve our passengers and create a distinctive crew service system," the overseas recruitment manager explained.

Beijing Capital Airlines has begun code-sharing arrangements with TAP Portugal and combined transport cooperation on many other routes to Europe, South America and Africa. The employment roadshows in Portugal were designed to help diversify the nationalities of the flight staff, especially those from the country of its newest route as the carrier believes this will help improve the service experience of passengers on the route.
