Sofia - Malaga new route for Wizz


The leading low-cost airline for central and eastern Europe Wizz Air are launching yet another new route, Sofia to sunny Malaga will commence on 27th March 2018.



This is the latest in a series of new routes for the budget airline, it will be operated twice a week, on Tuesdays and Saturdays, providing customers with a convenient schedule for weekend getaways. Seats on the route are already on sale and can be booked on wizzair.com or via the WIZZ mobile app from just €29.99 / BGN 58.99*, which includes a free hand luggage allowance of up to 55x40x23cm maximum dimensions.

Malaga is a port city on southern Spain’s Costa del Sol, which is renowned for its beautiful landscapes, fabulous beaches, rich cultural heritage and excellent cuisine. Enjoying an annual average of nearly 3000 hours of sunshine, Costa del Sol is a popular holiday destination all year round.



Following the recent addition of Nice and Lisbon to its Sofia network, Malaga is already the 3 sunny destination WIZZ will connect with the Bulgarian capital from next March. With the Bratislava, Catania and domestic Varna services, which all have commenced this year, Wizz Air now offers 33 low-fare routes from its Sofia base.

Wizz Air’s first Bulgarian flight took off from Sofia in September 2005. Since then, the airline has become the market leader in the country and carried over 10 million passengers from and to its three Bulgarian airports: Sofia, Varna and Bourgas, while constantly expanding its operations.

Wizz Air has now eight aircraft based in Bulgaria, seven at Sofia and one at Varna Airport, employing 300 customer-oriented crew.  In the first eight months of 2017, over 1.6 million passengers traveled with WIZZ to and from Bulgaria, 40% more than in the same period of the previous year. With its extensive network, the airline’s operations supports more than 1300** indirect jobs in associated industries in 2017.
